Kittilä
mine, Kittilä
The mine in Kittilä is the largest known
gold deposit in Europe. Our commission
included the project and construction management tasks required for the opening
of the mine. The client was Agnico-Eagle
Finland.
Key
figures of the project:
- Ore for the concentration plant: 1 million tons per
year. Operating period: 12-15 years.

Annual excavations of the open pit mine (ore +
waste rock): 4.5 million tons per year (40 million tons in total).

Length of the open pit mine approximately 900 m,
maximum width 400 m and depth approximately 150 m.
- Earth removal: approximately 1 million m3.

Underground mine: access shaft to a
depth of about 400m from the surface, slope 1:7, dimensions 5 m x 5 m,
initial length about 3 km.

Construction of roads, buildings, ditches, pipe
systems, electricity distribution, etc. for the mine.
Pampalo

Pahtavaara mine, Sodankylä
The
Pahtavaara gold mine opened in 1996.
The mining was restarted
in 2007, and excavation has moved from open pit to underground.
